I graduated from Healdsburg High School in 2024 and am currently a second-year student at UCLA working towards completing my bachelor’s in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics. After UCLA I hope to continue to a graduate program and pursue a PhD in virology and work in research studying viruses and immune response.

I got connected to 10,000 Degrees in part through my high school counseling services, and in part through my older brother, who was involved with 10,000 Degrees as well.

How has the ORW Scholarship impacted your educational goals?

It’s been a huge blessing to have been awarded the Oakmont Rainbow Womens’ scholarship through 10,000 Degrees, as I hope to continue my education through to a graduate degree, and the ability to place my focus on my studies and lab work while an undergraduate student is one that helps me continue towards that goal and is an ability that’s been awarded to me thanks to scholarships such as the ORW scholarship.
