Emma C

I am from Healdsburg, CA and attended Windsor High School. I was previously at Santa Rosa Junior College then transferred to UC Berkeley in the Fall 2025 semester. I am currently a junior and I am majoring in Legal Studies. Once I graduate next year, I am hoping to get a job as a paralegal or legal assistant, something within the legal field, then after a few years of experience, go to law school. As of now, I hope to focus on Criminal Prosecution, particularly domestic violence and abuse cases as well as Family Law.

I was connected through 10,000 Degrees since it was one of the scholarships which I was told to apply to. My friend in the past had been a part of 10,000 Degrees which is the first time I heard of it. They were a year ahead of me, which allowed me to have some time to learn more when it was my time to apply. They are supporting me thoroughly since my family is unable to support me.

How has the ORW Scholarship impacted your educational goals?

I was fortunate enough to receive good aid at the school I am currently at but there is still a good portion of my finances which I am responsible for on my own. I knew from a young age that I was going to receive financial support from my family so I rely on saving up money and applying for as many scholarships as I could. By providing a portion of my financial support, it is a large weight taken off of me.
