The purpose of the Social Justice SIG is to provide a supportive and engaging space for women who wish to stay informed about current events and issues affecting women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and broader human rights. Through open discussion, shared resources, and collective learning, members will explore topics the group deems important, foster awareness, and cultivate a sense of empowerment and solidarity.
Under the leadership of Kathy Crafton, the group will not only focus on discussion and awareness but also seek opportunities to organize meaningful activities, projects, or advocacy efforts that allow members to actively contribute to positive social change.
Our goal is to encourage thoughtful dialogue, strengthen our understanding of social justice issues, and inspire informed action where appropriate. We believe this could be a healthy outlet for like-minded women.
Lee Krichmar or Kathy Crafton can add you to our online discussion or GroupMe page, which assists with communications and coordination. We want to ensure members stay connected and informed.
CA GOVERNORS RACE ISSUE
CA’s top-two open primary puts all candidates on one ballot regardless of party affiliation. The top two advance to the November election. Right now, 8 democrats are splitting about 50% of the vote and the 2 republicans, 30% of the vote. If this trend continues, the top-two slots will go to the republicans. Please contact the candidates to avoid this potential catastrophe.
